Start with your GSLT. Generate a Game Server Login Token for free from Valve's Steam Game Server Account Management page, tied to the Counter-Strike 2 app, and add it to your startup configuration so the server is recognised by Steam and lists reliably for public players. Then set your slot count and pick your starting mode and map — competitive, retake, deathmatch or a practice setup — through the game type and mode convars.
Next, add your plugins. Install Metamod:Source, then CounterStrikeSharp, and confirm both load in the console before adding anything else. From there, drop in your admin, retake or practice plugins one at a time and check each starts cleanly. For maps, reference Steam Workshop IDs to load community content on start or change live, and if you serve custom files outside the Workshop, configure sv_downloadurl to point at a FastDL host so clients pull them over HTTP.
Finally, set up administration. Connect an RCON tool or use an in-game admin plugin for live moderation — changing maps, adjusting convars and managing players during matches — and schedule restarts to keep the server fresh.
